New Daiwa reel?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Honestly intrigued by the J-Fluoro Samurai, ranges from 2 to 25 lb test and made in Japan.
I've been fishing with some of this since this past fall. Level wound, high quality stuff. I'm more excited about this particular product than anything else out of these releases. I have my bulk spool order in already

Is there a difference between this new CT and the current Tatula 100? I like the 100 frame and Mag Z.
It is the old Tatula CT. They have removed Magforce Z from the reel by the description. Way worse than a Tatula 100. You get neither the 100 frame or Magforce Z.

Daiwa: we took the Tatula CT from 2016 and made it worse. New for 2020!

That's unfortunate.

I’m pretty sure the corporate Daiwa reps sport Tatula tribal spider tramp stamps at this point. :clown:

When I saw the announcement videos of the new tackle start with the walking spider logo, I knew it was going to be TatulaFest 2020. They just can’t seem to shake the Tatula from the lineup. I know it’s popular with the masses but they need to cater to the enthusiasts too 8-)

It's not even a good Tatula. It's one from 2016 with Magforce Z REMOVED.

Much like the SLX with no svs infinity. That's what they went for.

The Tat 100 platform has been a great reel for me. But , there's two things they need to address imo. The wagon wheel spool bearing retainer clip , gear side. And the fact that they do not come with any grease on the gears. I've bought 4 brand new daiwa baitcasters this past year , not the first one has had grease on the gears. There's just no excuse for it.
Get that correct and I'd put the Tat 100 up against the curado k all day and twice on Sunday. I was really hoping for a new Zillion SV but , oh well.

The "new" Tatula CT is not based on the 100 platoform. It is the old Tatula from 2016. Tatulas don't go away. They just keep making more and renaming the old ones and releasing them as new (Tatula 150, 200 and Tatula CT)

I was so glad to see that gone when I first opened up the Coastal SV; but I guess easier access makes sense if you're going to be using it in saltwater...

Well one good thing, I guess I can save for a few more of the older platforms. I just tried out the old TDZ Type R+ and I can say it hangs with the greatest available today. Last Tatula I had was the type r and it was a disappointment. I don’t think I will be turning to any new Daiwa reels anytime soon unless they are made in Japan.

I think the description says it has Magforce on the reel. Doesn’t list it as one of the features though so I may be wrong. I asked in the live stream of the product showcase but got no response.

Magforce is a fixed inductor version of magnetic braking. Less dynamic than MagZ and it's typically used on the cheaper Daiwa reels, like sub-$50.

Gotcha thanks! I’m still trying to get used to Daiwa. I’ve been a Shimano guy most of my life, so I’m just starting to learn more. Love the older Daiwa reels but it seems like the new ones are just overhyped reels for the masses.
