Spool options for a RYOGA 1520H?
Spool options for a RYOGA 1520H?
I want to get a second spool for my Ryoga but don't know much about the 36mm spool universe. The two lines I want to use are 25lb Defier Armilo (.0159"/.405mm) and 50lb Power Pro braid (.0140"/.360mm). The reel is on a MB Super Red Demon and I am going to use it for small/medium swimbaits and large topwaters. I will use the mono the most often but I switch to braid when fishing larger (6-7") paddle tails in cover. I think the stock 1520 spool will be fine for the mono but I would love to find one for the braid that is shallower and will give me a bit more casting distance. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

This spool was released recently, probably have to find one from auction site now. Also there's HLC 1514&1516, depending on what size lures you plan on throwing.

The 1516 HLC would be a good option, holds a bunch of 50lb. braid and will sling a bigger bait a good way.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I am going to be using the braid for ~2oz plastics, so nothing super demanding on the spool. It's a mix of bomb casts to cover water and shorter targeted casts to work weedlines and bits of cover.

Huh, I never thought to look for a 36mm DIY spool. For some reason my phone keeps sending me to the Russian Ailexpress site, do you know off hand the line capacity?LowRange wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 5:36 pmOne of these maybe? https://m.ru.aliexpress.com/item/322603 ... 1978dba940
Re: Spool options for a RYOGA 1520H?
I have the same problem on mobile. This is what I got ot of the description.
Weight: 10.8 g (without ball bearing) / 12.6 g (with ball bearing)
Coil size: ID 26.5 mm / OD 36 mm (with SV brake system)
Material: Spool-A7075 \ shaft-stainless steel \ NMB ball bearing 3 * 10 * 4 mm
Bandwidth:
YGK X8 2.0 ---- 100m
Weight of bait 5-21 g
PE is recommended as a nylon fishing line can distort the reel
It can be used in the following model:
Million 1514
Million 1516
Million 1520
Million TWS In-Ear Earphones with 100
RYOGA 1520

There is also this spool which is slightly deeper.

The weight range of 5-21g kills it though, my braid spool will be used to throw ~2.25oz paddletails across huge pad fields so the spool will take some abuse.
Re: Spool options for a RYOGA 1520H?
If the spool for the new Catalina comes up for sale then thay might be worth while. TTT is selling them for $210. I'm going to pick one up at that awesome price. It's a Zillion TWS with a shallower spool and a recessed mag dial.
