What are you cranking with?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Hey Jorrick, it depends on the bait I’m throwing. Typically I’m throwing 11 lbs for most lighter 1/4-3/8, I’ll go up to 15 lbs for some DD baits.

Like you, I waited until a sale and stocked up and now have several spools. Also heard rumor earlier this year that Defier was no longer going to be available in the US.

I got a Stile handle...from a Stile
I got the Stile XG for Texas Rigs. 8.1 Aldebaran with an even smaller frame thanks to the Core Fit body...Its a dream, other than the brakes

Darn i was hoping you knew a place to buy them fairly reasonable. Everywhere i could find jdm stock parts they were crazy prices. I put a engetsu handle on a metainium and like the length so i figured you could find them priced like us models

I have 2 Conquest 200's and 3 Curado I's with the 5.5.1 gear ratio. Both paired with a 7’0 med-fast rods. I prefer graphite over glass. I also use 10-14lb mono over fluorocarbon, no one has ever proven to me that Fluoro gets more bites in anything less than super clear water.

I use a curado 200i PG in 5:1 with 17lb Suffix Advantage
I use a Bantam PG in 5:1 with 14lb Suffix Advantage
I use a calais 6:1 with 20lb Tatsu.

Bantam is the smoothest of the three.

An Antares should not have any flex in it under load but I have never used one.

I have a Calcutta conquest 100 and 200 that I use for my crank baiting. If I wanted a low pro reel, I would order a Bantam PG just from my experience with the two Bantams I currently have. Great reel with absolutely no flex.
