OG Fuego

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Anyone cranking with this reel?
The one I have I’m only using ratL traps but wondered how deep is too deep for this reel
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible

You could put the 5.1:1 gear set from that TDX Airmetal 103P into the Fuego and crank 10XD's with no problem. With the stock 6.3 gears, I wouldn't go over a 5XD.
Tackle Trap has the gear set in stock:

The 5.7 gear set is another option that strikes a nice balance of speed and torque, but they aren't easy to find anymore.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I had the 5.0:1 TDZ set in my OG Fuego but never got to try it out before I ended up selling the reel. Still have the new set as the buyer wanted the original set re installed.

I have a set of rh ito 103 5.7:1 gears if you'd like to try them. Will let go for cheap as I bought my ito used and swapped out gear sets right away. Unknown condition. Pm me if you want them.

One of my Fuego's has 5.7 TDZ gears and a 100M spool. It is a dedicated deep cranking reel. It is as good as it gets.

Cranking? Yes. Deep cranking? No. I almost never deep crank. I have 5.8 reels that could be used for that. Sols, Alphas' and an ML..which may be 5.7? I'd have to look. I liked my first Fuego well enough to purchase 2 more. The first one I bought was the reel used to learn how to use a baitcast reel.
