Hey all, just ordered my first swimbait rod, a Dobyns Fury 795sb and wondering what reel I should go with. All the baits I'm using are 1.5 - 3 oz, and they are all pretty low resistance baits (Hudd 68's, Megabass i-slide 185, s waver 168, gratt sneaky pete, 6'' magdrafts ). Wondering if the 200 is enough reel for these. Up north where I fish, a 6lber plus is rare. I like the smaller profile for comfort of fishing all day, but wouldn't be against the 300 either.
Also wondering about the line choice. The capacity on the Tranx 200 is 110yd of 14lb mono. I'm thinking of 14lb or 17lb Sufix Advance, the 17lb would only give me about 90 yards on the spool (Sufix advance is a thicker line than most). Seems like enough to me, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. Also, any thoughts on using 14 or 17lb test for my listed baits?
Thanks everyone!
Tranx 200 for 1.5-3oz swimbaits? Line suggestions?

If you are throwing expensive baits, you might want 20# or more. For that, you'll need the 300.
The 300 is not too big and you can go with the power handle if you like.
If you stick with the 200 size you should you save the money, get a more refined reel, and swap for the Curado 200.

Have you looked at the daiwa coastal tws? It is a 200 size reel with more line capacity than a tranx 200
