Daiwa Alpha 150

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Daiwa Alpha 150

Post by Moosehead » Sun Apr 21, 2019 11:02 am

So my son was looking at getting another Daiwa reel, his main two reels are the Tierras. He wanted to get an Alpha I assume a 103 or a 105, he got the numbers mixed up and bought a very nice 150. He got it yesterday and was a little disappointed, I think this is the JDM TIERRA. Other than the swept drag star and handle everything looks identical inside and out... is this an accurate assessment?

By identical I mean excluding the paint differences.

You are correct. It is basically the Advantage 153 HSTA, with the good smooth knobs.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I bought one of the Tierras from him, I already upgraded the drag, bearings and added a Zillion drag star and handle..so I guess it's mine again... the 150 is a good looking reel...
