New knob styles

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

New knob styles

Post by Johnny A » Fri Mar 08, 2019 12:13 pm

Were the focus groups on recreational hallucenigenics with these new knob styles? Chef hats, no more Septon, $60 for a set of cork knobs to replace horrid, new Daiwas. Facepalm

I assume you are referring to the new style grips for shimano and daiwa that are subpar.

The RCS knobs are top notch and can be had at a decent price for daiwa reels if you know where to look.

Shimano knobs have always been lacking to me. I prefer the older power grips over the new ones though.

Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I've ordered some of those Septone rubber knobs off the FB Stradic Ci4+ to put onto my Curado DC - waiting for the other and see how they feel compared to the heavier 200 size platform grips that come on it. I think it may work out a bit better, otherwise may use the Sustain FG 2500 round EVA knobs if all else fails...

Ive been getting a few knobs from cheaper sources and being of two heads now that the standard run of boutique / high cost / not so glamorous named brand knobs aren't the only option out there for comfort and feel on a reel...

I think the "Ike" baitcaster has the same style, just a little bit smaller.

Daiwa has those horrible paddle knobs that started from the Tatula and worked their way out.

Hah, I love the Daiwa paddles! Comfortable and very grippy. I am slowly putting them on all my kayak reels as they are amazing for fishing with wet hands.

What I really want are slightly chunky rubberized cork knobs for Diawa handles, something like the stock 13 Fishing ones would be ideal.

The original Lew's reels made by Shimano had paddle knobs

I think daiwa's newer high-grip knobs are my favorite. Not sexy, but damn comfy. I did like the septons on my old mg50's alot.
