Yesterday I bought a Megabass Destroyer FMJ and a Daiwa Steez reel to pair with.
Just want to see if I made the right decision...
Will only be used for 3/8 - 1/2 oz jigs & creature baits on 20lb straight fluoro.
Which Steez would pair the best with FMJ purely as a functional choice (without considering aesthetics)?
Steez SV TW 6.3:1
Steez SV TW 7.1:1
Steez A TWS 6.3:1
Steez A TWS 7.1:1
Which Steez On Destroyer FMJ ?
Re: Which Steez On Destroyer FMJ ?
My vote is for one of the Steez A's. I have a Steez SV TW on mine and while it makes the combo insanely light, it balanced just a bit tip-heavy for how I hold it. I tried a sv103 and it was far better but lost that super light feel, so I think a Steez A would be the perfect fit.ResoKP wrote:Yesterday I bought a Megabass Destroyer FMJ and a Daiwa Steez reel to pair with.

The SV TW isn't bad on it by any means but I have been thinking of swapping out to a longer metal handle to see if a little more reel-weight gets it perfect for me.
Re: Which Steez On Destroyer FMJ ?
Jigs/Creatures, Hi Speed for sure. Any bottom contact you are better off with 7+ or better. I have 8:1 A's on my primary JWR rods and CRR rod. At 1/2oz, go ahead and get the A. The SV TW, while not a finesse reel, is definitely more on the finessey side of the 2 new model Steez reels and works better at 1/4-3/8 total weight. Kind of like the old OG 100/103 argument. The SV TW has less capacity as well, which with 20 Fluro could be a concern.

I'd lean toward the Steez A or bump that thought and order the Morethan so the combo is dead sexy!

I have a Steez A 7.1 on mine and it balances nicely tip up.
