Daiwa SS Air 8.1 for BFS and mod question

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

My SS Air has a fixed inductor and it came to me new from Japan that way.

It looks like the picture of the SS with the fixed inductor still has the C clip to hold it on, not saying that means there is a spring, just seems most fixed inductors are solidly attached...

Really cool find if they are different.

I had always known:

SS Air-SV style
Alphas Air-SV style

Air Stream-Fixed

Never owned any, just had read so far that the Air Stream had a fixed inductor.

My rotor will not move, no rotating, no wiggle at all.

I had a different SS AIR a couple years ago and its rotor twisted

Mine was this way too "twisted", the air brake system.

The Air Stream Custom rotor is fixed, but it wiggles a little. The sv ramps are solidly glued together and there's a spacer between the rotor and c-clip, but the rotor itself is loose enough to turn back and forth a few degrees without any in and out movement at all.
This is the way.

For me sounds like that they have used SV style axle for this AirStreamCustom. If so, this is good, because then it might be able to custom to SV inductor. If somebody want’s to do it.

Yep. Maybe SV inductors can be converted to fixed style with AirStreamCustom parts. Nice.

Fixing would be easy. Unfixing may be a bit more...permanent.

:D Yes! But also non-permanent fixed type might be possible if parts of AirStreamCustom are interchangeable to other reels.
