Hey gang,
After much frustration, finally was able to access the insides of this tank in order to replace what I think is a faulty roller bearing (anti rev slips regularly). Problem is, I don’t know how to get the old bearing out now! Can anyone give some advice? Pics attached..

A press and the right size socket will work. Slow and steady wins the race.

Thanks! Might be a silly question but does it push into the reel or out of the reel?

It needs to be pressed in towards the inside. There is a bearing holder that will probably press out with the pressure, and then you will need to have this supported to press the bearing out. If that makes sense. I have highlighted the holder in your picture.
Cheers.

Most of the time replacement is not necessary.greatbarracuda wrote:Hey gang,

Sometimes lubricants migrate and can prevent proper operation of AR bearings. We see it in the shop every day.
On my bench I would rehab the bearing in the side plate first before making a decision to replace it.
Unless that is a factory flawed bearing in some way or broken, it should work for many years without issue with proper lubrication and care.
I'll send you a PM on it...
Why is there a concerted effort of hate? And why is it allowed?
