Magnesium reels ultrasonic safe?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Magnesium reels ultrasonic safe?

Post by lifeofRiley » Fri Nov 23, 2018 11:57 am

I'm cleaning a buddy's CH51Mg and the corrosion on it is about as bad as I've ever seen. Just wondering if anyone has tried throwing a magnesium reel frame into an ultrasonic cleaner before? I'll be using lukewarm water and dawn dish soap. Thx.

As long as you dont add salt to the water, you should be fine. Magnesium and salt are a no no. As well as fire.
