2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW
Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW
To all those asking about brass gears - Hyper digigear is Daiwas top tier gearing made of marine bronze. This is one of the key differences that sets the Morethan reels (spinning and baitcast) apart from their siblings.
Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW
I really would like to see a breakdown of the new 2019 Morethan, just to differentiate from the Steez A. The gear composition is the main thing, the weight tells a different story though and makes me think they are both an aluminum style gear...
Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW
I’m sure that a lot of people in here would like to see opened Morethan vs. Steez. I would also.
In my opinion weight difference is a little. Sound’s like hybrid gears. But maybe they have lightened Morethan in some way and there is full brass gears.

The so-called hyper digi gear in morethan pe sv(8:1) is full brass. Mine was very rough out of the box, ended up replacing it with the gearset from zillion tw. I hope it won't be the case with the new morethan. The morethan also comes with metal star drag, that's where extra weight vs steez A may come from too other than brass gear and 100mm handle.

My new morethan PE 1000 is just as smooth as my steez sv tw, just has a much more solid og-zillion feel to it if you know what I mean. The metal drag star is huge for the plastic phobic guys like me that can’t tell the difference between a few grams unless it’s tied to the end of a line.
Re: 2019 Daiwa Morethan PE 1000 TW
Hyper digigear is known to be not as smooth as their normal gears, it is the trade off for a more durable material. Pretty sure Daiwa previously (a number of years ago, back when the Certate Hyper was released) had a note on their Japanese website that mentioned this4g63power wrote:The so-called hyper digi gear in morethan pe sv(8:1) is full brass. "Adopting C6191, which has 1.6 times the strength of duralumin as a drive gear material, it has dramatically improved strength and durability by further increasing the diameter. Here, the shape of the tooth surface was fundamentally reviewed by computer analysis, and a process not allowing micro error was added, and "HyperDigiGear" was born. Ideal meshing with the pinion brings out a very powerful hoisting force as well as silky rotation."

Great info sir. Thanks. I for one am satisfied that you have solved this. I wasn’t planning on ripping my reel apart any time soon, and this seems to put the question to rest.kolp wrote:"Adopting C6191, which has 1.6 times the strength of duralumin as a drive gear material, it has dramatically improved strength and durability by further increasing the diameter. I don’t courage anybody Morethan owner to open their new reel. Usually neither do I to open my new (and expensive) reel. But I know that some people want’s to open their new reel and to see inside the reel. I’m just hoping that somebody who usually open their reels has decided to buy Morethan.

I have seen pictures . The morethan 7.1 is alloy gears the same as Steez A. The 8.6 model is a brass gear.

I encourage everyone to have a new reel pre serviced as most new reels aren't lubricated correctly.jvelth74 wrote:I don’t courage anybody Morethan owner to open their new reel. I call bollocks on that claim. The previous Morethan PE SV TW had marine bronze gears (hyper digigear), there is no way Daiwa would advertise the new model as having Hyper Digigear if it didnt. Anyone who owns Morethan reels know that this is the main selling point of these reels.BARRAMANIAC wrote:I have seen pictures . The morethan 7.1 is alloy gears the same as Steez A.
