What's REALLY next for Daiwa

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Steez A, SV, CT SV, or the new Morethan?

Morethan is the only correct answer.
Thanks for the suggestions! Wondering why you guys prefer Morethan?
Aesthetics aside, I was thinking SV TW would be the better performer due to it being lighter weight, and for skipping & pitching?

Looks wise, Morethan on FMJ would be so nice..

Looks wise mainly but also for the dual aluminum side plates and brass gear set on the 8.6. I'm not a fan of magnesium frames reels with aluminum gears for heavy use type applications like pitching jigs. They get rougher and noiser than a similar aluminum frame brass geared reel when worked hard. My IS73 I use to skip jigs was a coffee grinder until I got a brass gear set for it. In lighter more finesse applications my aluminum geaedr reels have held up great and are like new feeling. If you want an SV spool to skip jigs (you do) you can put one in the new Morethan. It is comparable with the "1016" and older "103" sized spools.

There is a new video up on YouTube from Plat with the Steez CT and a Steez TW in 5.3 ratio.

At one point the two are side by side and one can see how much smaller the CT truly is.

I'm wondering whether the Alphas CT SV body is exactly the same as for the old Alphas SV 105?
Actually it looks like the "CT" only applies to the smaller spool :)

Plat has a video up on it as well and it certainly appears to be the same frame. Just large orange spacers to adapt the 30mm spool

These 30mm spools, besides being smaller in diameter are they narrower too?

They do appear to be narrower. You can see that the spacers in the Alphas that kind of stick a bit from the frame. They appear to be tapered to make the difference stand out less.

The Steez is an entirely new frame and it is narrower for sure....

I have a Steez SV TW on my FMJ but only have maybe a few months of use on it so far. I had an sv103 on it before and the handling difference is so great that I will risk the gears. I do kinda suspect that a Steez A would be the Goldilocks reel for the FMJ as the Steez SB TW is light enough to move the balance point a bit too far forward.

Mainly because I already know I like the egros of the Steez A on that specific rod. I guess the Morethan spool is more interesting then the sock Steez A one but I assume I will be able to buy one as a standalone at some point.
