What's REALLY next for Daiwa
Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa
Another look at the new Steez. It sort of looks like there is a deeply recessed mag dial in the palming plate but that could be a push button to remove the plate like the T3 reels had. It would be a big push button though. Much bigger than the T3 reels button.
Here the just the palming plate from whatever reel has the bottom mounted mag dial. Looks like only the bottom half of the dial protrudes from the plate.
A side view of the plate. The dial almost disappears from view when the plate is held upright. Looks very unobtrusive.

I could give one of my fingers to get 2019 Pixy (or Presso) SV which weights less than 140g!

What about your casting thumb?MardukFIN wrote:I could give one of my fingers to get 2019 Pixy (or Presso) SV which weights less than 140g!
I do wish that would happen. They could use the SV LTD spool (or a little deeper). No carbon handle or cork knobs to keep the MSRP down. The PX-R i think wasva turn off because of price. The 6.8 gears didnt help it either.

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa
So this would be the current tatuta 100 design if true. I was told by daiwa rep that the tat 100 is slightly smaller than current steez, so that would jive. I much prefer the current steez side plate to that of the current tat 100.
Regarding the mystery reel that kind of looks like a dark potato is in pics, hope this is not some version of that CR80 thing.
Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa
I'm leaning towards the new Steez being the reel with the bottom mounted mag dial as was mentioned earlier. It looks like there will be a push button to release the side plate in the location of the current mag dial. Hard to say for certain but that is what appears to be the case in the video.

10-4. Now I got it.
Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa
Does the Steez platform really need an update??? If anything I would rather have the new Hyper Mesh brass gears and a longer handle. Just not sure what they are aiming at sometimes... I'm starting to think the Z1016 is beyond a dream, unless there is a T-wing on it. I don't hate the TWS, just would be cool to see something different.

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa
I just got a Shimano Stile 100XG in the mail today. It has bumped by Steez SV TW 8.1 from Texas Rig duties. 8.1 gears, 5oz and 100mm handle, shallow spool...not sure if it gets better. Its a saltwater reel but, as long as I dont tell the reel it is, it will never know.DirtyD64 wrote:Does the Steez platform really need an update??? I thought that's what the ASC was. 30mm is super small. It'll start up fast, that's for sure.
This is the way.
