So I managed to donate my Curado 70 side plate to the muddy depths of my local lake today
I'm not situated in the US and it seems as though Scorpion parts might be cheaper to import. Will the Scorpion 70XG side plate fit on (what's left of) my Curado 70?

Yes it will fit just fine. Are you sure imported is cheaper? Have you check with Shimano, give them a call.
