What is better for casting distance with lighter baits in the 1/4 to 3/8: Metanium MGL vs. Curado 70 vs.Chronarch ? Any perspective?

Longer rod and lighter line.

My Chronarch MGL is no slouch for casting light lures, but any SV reel should top those and do it easier (at least in the lightest scenarios). I would say from those you listed, the Metanium MGL (JDM) would be first, then the US Metanium (spool is deeper), then the Chronarch MGL, then the Curado 70. For some reason the Curado 70 spool weighs 15.7 grams, only .3 away from a huge reel like a Zillion TWS (with bearing). The small line capacity helps it out though and with braid I know a Curado 70 is still a capable finesse casting reel. I think having a fair amount of braid backing with only about 70 yards of fluoro on the Chronarch MGL really helped.

This all being said, a shallow spool Metanium MGL would bomb for those lure weights, especially with lighter line and a long rod with the right taper and action.

The JDM Met. MGL is a casting machine, and an absolute joy to use.

Out of the 3 mentioned metanium mgl hands down. Then chronarch than curado. Metanium and chronarch mgl spools start up easier and are lighter and cast very good.

I have a ton of reels and absolutely love my Chronarch mgl. Im not brand specific either. I have some Lews that are excellent as well. But my all time favorite for poprs etc is a Curado 101D or Chronarch D7. If you can find a good used one..

60% spool, 40% rod. The reel itself has little to do with it, other than how it accommodates said spool.

Curado 70 can get it done

Of the ones you mentioned, I only have the Curado 70 and it handles light lures fine when paired with the right rod.

T3 MX with a R+ spool.

I assume by your options weight is a concern but don’t forget about the bantam. If anything it palms better than the met and chronarch and is mgl. Smoothest of the bunch too.

Not sure if anyone has, but the newer Aldebaran MGL would probably best all of these, and can be had from a JDM site for a decent price too, under $300 at times I think. I'd say it has the lightest spool by a bit (JDM Metanium MGL second) and even though it has the lowest line capacity there should still be enough (with lighter line) to throw the furthest.

My mistake, just read back, 1/4 to 3/8 would probably dump the spool on an Aldebaran MGL unless using very light braid.
