Steez A vs Steez SV103 8.1:1 ?

Hi all,

looking to get a new reel for heavy Jigs.

I have narrowed it down to the two.

The Steez SV103 seems to have brass gears vs the duralium of the Steez A. I prefer the spool of the SV for skipping.

What would you choose?

Ive used both the 7.1.1 Steez A for 7/8-1oz jigs and the Steez SV.....
Both have been fine so far..
Did I make that easier?

Thank you, but no! ;)

Which one would you say is smoother and holds up better over time?

Can't go wrong either way. SV wins for skipping duties. If it were me, I'd get the A and replace the spool with SV. I have small hands, and the new Steez form factor fits said hands like a glove.

Skipping the SV for sure..although I can skip with either reel..
Steez A as Hog said just fits better in my hands as well and its a beast..
If skipping isnt its main goal go with the A

The SV103 will bomb it out there to, i'm pretty impressed with the versatility of my Steez SV 103XSL so far and its smoother than all of my Shimano's :D

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Since I will be using the reel also in brackish water (California Delta) I am wondering if the SV103 has a disadvantage here.

If I went with the Steez A I would prob customize it and get it with the 1016 SV spool, and a different handle and knobs from Plat, which would run me like 450 USD instead of the 310 USD (current price for SV103 on ebay with coupon).

If the SV103 is ok for brakish water as well, I would prob opt for it given the better price..

Finally got brave enough to order my Steez A XH!!! Very excited to try it, gonna sell the stock spool if anyone will be looking. I will be fishing jigs too, but much more finesse style, either on 20-30lb braid or 10-12lb fluorocarbon. The SV103 is a great reel too, but I hear it is a tad over braked for long bomb casting...
