TD Fuego cast control knob

Post by Moosehead » Sun Jul 22, 2018 1:46 pm

When I replaced my TDZ CC knobs with Steez 103s, I tried to move my original TDZ knobs to a couple of my TD Fuegos but to my surprise they fit but don't work. So if the TDZ CC knobs don't fit what factory model knobs do. The Steez 103 swept star I put on my TDZs also fit perfectly on my fuegos and they look great. I was hoping to find another Daiwa model that's grey or dark grey with a gold accent.

tough one . I'd recommend the OG ZIllion HA CC knob but I don't if that knob has gold accents like the rest of the reel. Could go the aliexpress route and get a gold one from Ray's studio.

Maybe there is something wrong, I just put on one of my TD Zillion knobs, the OG Zillion knob fits pretty much just like just like the TDZ knob while they do go on and both tighten and loosen there isn't enough resistance except when tight.

Year the tension comes from the o ring rubbing on the smooth sides before the threads begin, the TDZ and Zillion knobs after the threads open up huge so the oring isn't touching anything. While they will "technically" work, they can loosen themselves quite easily. And these big knobs have no real tension until tightened down. Kinda a shame cause with the TDZ one on it, it looks awesome! I'll have to give this one some more thought. Has anyone run into this problem?

Ok, I'll try to figure out how to post..it's the white plastic flat washer around the base of the threads...it's on the ballistic and the Zillion...that's gotta be it...

Ahh I know what you're referring to now. I've had to replace that POS on a T3 before. I do not have that part but I know, from experience :big grin: , Daiwa does.

I don't see it on their site but that doens't mean their reel tech, I think his name is bryan if I remember right, doesn't have any handy. I would call them and find out before ordering anything from Daiwa.

yeah, gonna call Bryan tomorrow. Hes back tomorrow and I gotta order a bunch of stuff. 2 Steez A handles, 1 Tatula 200 HD handle, 3 Zillion drag stars. 2 Steez 103 cc knobs, Ballistic cc knob, and ive finally decided to pull one Sol aside and customize it a touch, so PX drag star, black cc knob and PX R handle. Think Im going to put the drag star, cc knob and handle all from two of my TDzs on my two Fuegos. I really like those reels and it really looks great. Im going to keep a lookout for two more..

Yeah I beginning to think there isn't a way to have the cc knob of a TD-Z work properly on the Fuego. There isn't enough resistance. Do the cc caps from secondary and tertiary venders fit better? I may just have to leave the stock crappy knob on...

I've had good luck /w the Ray's studio CC knobs. Don't have a fuego to give it a shot but I've seen plently of Fuegos /w the colored CC knob.
