Need some spinning reel help

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Need some spinning reel help

Post by Kingpin » Mon Jul 16, 2018 11:47 am

Im picking up a GLX893s for throwing heavier tubes for smallmouth. Im looking at a Tatula 3000 or 4000, a Ballistic 3000 or 4000, or a Luvias 3000. Im currently using 2500 CI4+ reels on all spinning stuff but I dont feel like its going to be big enough for this rod. I just found a, possibly new CI4+) in my fishing room that Im getting rid of it and buying something a touch bigger. Would the Shimano Sustain be a good option. All opinions are welcome. Thanks for the help

Have you looked at a certate? I looked at the sustains several times & always gravitated towards the certate because they felt so much smoother & better quality.

Go all out and get a Exist :big grin:

LT4000 would be my choice with that rod...

I don't think the sustain is really much better then a stradic by looking at the specs.

Also a Shimano Exsence 4000 would go awesome with a GLX.
