Will Daiwa RCSB HLC1514 Hyper Long Cast spool fit into 2018 Ryoga CC 1520?

Hi Guys,

I am satisfied with the Ryoga CC 1016 (5.4:1) sitting on the game changer crankbait 7'11" and I am thinking of getting another Ryoga, but this time I think I am going for Ryoga CC 1520 (6.3:1) and hope it will be sitting well on the Pro Bass 7'10" for heavy covers.

The question is if the Daiwa RCSB HLC1514 Hyper Long Cast spool ( I have an extra spool ) will fit into Ryoga 1520 since I don't need so much of lines, or should I get another CC 1016 with higher ratio.

Thank you all in advance.

Regards,
WW

I think the 15s interchange, but I know if you go with a 1016 there are more than a few spool options for it.

What kind of heavy cover are you using a reel like that for???

Hi DirtyD64,

Thanks for info!!!
This specific area is full of submerged aquatic plant, some sort of cabomba plant. I have been using Pe#4 and Pe#5 braided line and 30/40lb test line for the leader.

Most of the fish are about 6 or 7 lb giant snakehead, They are not huge but they are pretty fast in shallow water. I have been using jump frog, and ever single time I need to clear the lure, so the best choice of lure is to use Hollow body frog such as Deps and Spro Hollow body frogs.

I am just curious if anyone has compared using the HLC1514 HLC spool Vs the original spool in Ryoga 1520 for better casting 1/2 oz or more.

Thanks again for info.

Regards,
WW

I know that 1514 would throw hollow frogs well. Most HLC spools have more stiff springs that apply less magnetic braking to further cast 1/2oz+ lures. Back to the spool thing, I am pretty sure, but was hoping someone else would chime in because the 1516 Zillions and 1520 Ryoga's might have a few differences. Just like I figured a Morethan PE SV spool worked but it is slightly different. I know the new Zillion HD 2018 has a fixed inductor for some reason...

Thanks again for info, DirtyD64!!!

Just read the review from Cal on CC 1520 ( http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwa18ryoga.html )

agree with what he said about the Ryoga CC 1520 ( lack of dynamic casting performance ),cause this is what I feel on my Ryoga CC 1016 :).

I might wanna try with the RCS 1016SV G1 SLP works spool or the Zillion 1016 SV spool on my CC 1016, has anyone tried this before???. Please do share if you all don't mind.

WW

Can anyone explain what a "lack of dynamic casting performance" means. TIA

To me, due to the spool and the guide line is abit too close to each other, basically there is some sort of barrier ( it doesn't fly as smooth as my Steez A TW and this might be due to the TW guide line).

Correct me if I am wrong.

Wirinhar, did you try the HLC1514 in the Ryoga 1520? I consider getting one of those spools mainly just as a spare spool.

Hi Dalleinf,

I haven't tried yet but all my friends who have 1520CC is using 1514 and i was told it is alot better than the original spool.....

So far 1016 is good enough for me.... Managed to land many giants here with no problem at all, Sir.

Hi Michael,

I have HLC1514 and it is one superb reel to cast heavy lures. :)
