NEW: Daiwa Tatula 100 (based off Steez)

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

I'm not seeing any pics. So Daiwa is using the Steez SV TW platform for this new Tatula!?

At 1:07, you can see "Tatula" on the reel seat of what looks to be a new line of Tatula rods :D

I highly doubt it is based off the Steez TWS platform. Most likely the design lessons learned in creating the compact and good plaming Steez TWS have been applied to this new Tatula design. About time.

My guess is both the rod and reel are more budget freindly versions of the exsisting platform for each.

Look at the bottom pic and notice how the mag dial is right there in the way of your finger. If they would recess that dial they would have me buying a few.

I agree. If you look at the top pic it looks like the cutout in the palming plate is to give you better access to the dial to turn it. I think a guy could swap the stock knirled edge dial out with one with a beveled edge like on an Alphas or something provided they are compatible and the dial might not rub your hand when palming. This ia assuming it does not already habe smooth edge dial. Ypu can't see much detail in the low res screen caps. I'm waiting for better pics on an official release before making my mind up on the reel.

Got these screen caps from the copycat site vid on the 2018 Daiwa releases

Edit: it might be based off the Steez platform after all. Look at the location of the screw holes and frame. At 6.9oz with brass gears it is only slightly heavier than the 6,7oz Steez A with aluminum gears. Talk about trickle down!

Steez for reference

I don't think it's a steez platform but it's probably close.
My biggest takeaway with this new tatula is how they failed to RECESS THAT GD BRAKE DIAL AGAIN. Regardless of size, that thing is going to be annoying if it's now completely in your hand as opposed to just touching your finger.

Still getting one though :D

A side image (non-handle side) of the new Tat is on Daiwa's website. Also (take it for what it is) a video shows Randy H. saying it feels a lot like Steez). Oh and the C family of casting reels are on the website now.

How long before the Zillion update gets here is all I want to know. Can't afford a Steez, won't buy a Tatula… Come on Zillion SV 100. Please recess the damn brake dial.

I swear it never bothered me on my SV TW Zillion until I read about it, now I notice it every time I fish (still not a huge deal), but for the future, if not with this Tatula please recess the newest Zillion's brake dial like was done with the JDM Zillion HD...???
