Aldebaran 50 mgl to the US, xg model maybe?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Aldebaran 50 mgl to the US, xg model maybe?

Post by Hennessy » Wed May 09, 2018 7:48 pm

Been hearing talks about shimano bringing the Aldebaran mgl to the states in a 50 size with more line capacity than the 30 mgl model. The XG part I threw in there because I believe it would be a great seller. OR even a metanium mgl 50 xg model, wishful thinking. Regardless us shimano guys deserve a mgl xg reel with decent line capacity, sub 5oz. Wanting to know if anyone has heard about the alde mgl coming to the states

I have picked up two ald 30's and spooled the line off my 50's directly on them and the held all but 5 yards. I was worried about capacity but they are nearly identical. That's with 6/20 power pro braid. They cast amazing!!

Aldebaran 50 mgl XG = MY dream reel. The 50 is already one of my favorite reels ever just wish they had it in an XG ratio. Im hoping they release it at Icast this year.

You were absolutely correct. The spool is noticeably shallow but I had a hard time really telling the difference. Loaded mine with 10lb p-line tactical, has become my favorite reel for a weightless fluke

No experience with an Aldebaran, never even held one. Do they have a hollow feel of anything? Just that extreme lightweight sub 5oz catgerroy always has me wondering.

The shimano aldebaran 50 is a thing and you can find it on shimano Germany. It does not have a xg version though.

Now that we have a pretty good idea of the Shimano's coming, anyone know the Daiwa's??? Something is obviously happening in the $100 range and the Tatula CT might be getting a revamp. I'm thinking from some rumors that there is something closer to $400 coming... Not sure what though, really hope it is an opponent for the Bantam.

I have my Alde 50 mgl on the NRX 853 and I love it. Super smooth and super light. Would love to get a met mgl for the 893
