Anybody else mess with the Fuego CT?
I have to say, I picked one up off eBay with the 25% additional discount for $60. Tore into it and flushed the spool bearings, added 2 bearings per knob, and 2 to the levelwind. That sucker is silk, and really nice to fish! 50# braid and a hollow body frog, I can almost spool that reel on the cast, and it's butter on the retrieve.

I just picked up a couple for beater reels. One will be for salt, one for fresh...both off kayak. We'll see how they hold up with basic maintenance!
Re: Anybody else mess with the Fuego CT?
Basically like a tat ct without t-wing and minus a couple bearings , right ? I'm gonna put one on a flippin stick and see how it holds up..Are the sideplates the same material , re-enforced plastic or graphite ?

Yes, exactly the Tatula minus the TWS. Thats what appeals to me. Aluminum frame and graphite sideplates. Pretty tough though.johnD wrote:Basically like a tat ct without t-wing and minus a couple bearings , right ? Re: Anybody else mess with the Fuego CT?
I was under the impression that these had an inferior gear set to the Tatulas that made the reel less smooth. I wouldn't even describe the Tatulas as butter smooth. Interesting.

Buddy of mine got one and I couldn't get over how nice it was for under a $100 on sale. I was really impressed.

Yeah I looked into it but , that's $30. Might as well get the Tat ct , I don't dislike the t-wing that much , lol.PikeRoadBassn wrote:The Tatula CT100P Gear Set is 5.5:1 and drops right into it.johnD wrote:Wish they made this in a 5:1.
Re: Anybody else mess with the Fuego CT?
I’ve got one that’s been tuned up, I like it but it’s an 8:1 ratio. Would love to make it a 5:1 or as close as possible.PikeRoadBassn wrote:The Tatula CT100P Gear Set is 5.5:1 and drops right into it.johnD wrote:Wish they made this in a 5:1.
Where would I get these gears?
Re: Anybody else mess with the Fuego CT?
Straight from daiwa in California or I guess the tackle trap has them too.Warhawk wrote:I’ve got one that’s been tuned up, I like it but it’s an 8:1 ratio. Re: Anybody else mess with the Fuego CT?
This thread is timely as I was just about to buy a pair of Tat SV reels to use for kayak trolling and light tackle jigging around the chesapeake bay. I was originally going to buy a pair of Alphas 103h reels for this but I have come to accept that I want something a bit "heavier" for these combos. Would the Fuego CT be a reasonable fit for this application? New ones are like $70 on ebay, that would be like half what the Tat Sv's would cost me and 140 bucks would buy an awful lot of paddletails and jigheads.
