T3 MX with tatula zaion dragstar

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

T3 MX with tatula zaion dragstar

Post by MountainMan 83 » Wed Apr 04, 2018 3:01 pm

Recently received a T3 MX and had a zaion drag star to replace the stock one. Well I took it out to fish, and I found that I could not tighten the drag down enough by hand to actually set the hook on a fish. So I had to keep my thumb on the spool all day, didn't get a bite anyways.

Now, the reel is apart, ready for a good cleaning, spool bearings, and drag replacement.

I'm guessing I need to add a spacer under the star. Anyone dealt with this before? Thanks.

Yeah, I did with the SS SV. I just added another one of those washers which sit between the springs and the star.
This is the way.

I put the same drag star on a 1016 T3. Add another washer similar to the one that goes above the 2 curved drag washers and you'll be good to go.
