Question: True Line Capacity for Conquest 100

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Question: True Line Capacity for Conquest 100

Post by dropout644 » Thu Mar 29, 2018 3:29 pm

Hey Folks,

Pulling the trigger on a new Conquest 100. Thinking to stay with Sufix 832 as it is my hands down favorite braid. Anyone know if the reel will take a 150 yd spool of 15lb braid (5lb mono diameter)? Im torn between going 10 lb test or 15.......want to get 150 yds of braid on there though.

Anybody able to speak to the capacity of the Conquest 100??

I have a conquest 101 hg.

As for sufix, I would personally go with the 10lb.
Sufix 10lb is actually more like 30lb braid, the 10lb diameter listed from sufix is not correct.

You should be able to get 150 yards of 10lb or 15lb on with a mono backing.

I put P-line TCB-8 15lb on my Conquest and it fits around 150 yards, but the TCB 8 is thinner then sufix 15lb.

Thanks!

How do you like the TCB braid? Does it cast farther/better with the teflon coating? Any advantage to light lures (1/8 oz jigs, small cranks, etc)

Nice to have another Sufix fan on here!!! I always used the 10lb on spinning, until I realized that their 10lb (.008", .20mm) is about like 20lb PowerPro (.009", .23mm). So now for finesse/dropshot I went to the 8lb (new Sufix size) and my wife's 7'6" MH spinning rod works better with the 10lb 832. I would go on up to 15b depending on what you are doing, braid on a baitcaster digging in has been driving me crazy recently, even with it wound VERY tightly/compacted.

Its one of my favorite braids, I have never had a problem with it since it came out a few years ago and I have tried
a lot of different braid brands.

The Yellow TCB8 is better then the green, its cleaner and a bit stiffer.
TCB8 also ties excellent FG knots without slipping, I have had some braided lines be a bit of a pain to tie a FG.

TCB8 10lb ABS is 18.55lbs
TCB8 15lb ABS is 19.85lbs
But the TCB 8 feels thinner then most braids, I use the 10lb on my spinning reels.
