Core 100mgfv

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Core 100mgfv

Post by Rfdong » Thu Mar 29, 2018 12:16 pm

I've got one I need a gear set for. Don't see that model on Shimano website anymore, just the regular Core 100 with aluminum gear. Are these not available anymore? Or is Shimano out? Or was the MG7 same gear as the MGFV? Or if not, will another gear work? Also, pinion gear is the same as the regular 100? Bantam or anyone else? Thanks

Yes but the MGFV has the brass not aluminum gears. I figured it out with some help, the MG7which was released later has the brass gear, probably to keep it simple manufacturing wise. Thanks

Right, but its still a Core100/Chronarch100 reel. Any gears that fit that reel style will interchange.
