New Tatula 150

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Here's the link with more information.

http://www.daiwa.com/us/contents/reels/ ... index.html

Looks like the old HD with updated cosmetics. Doesn't mention if it's Magforce Z or regular Magforce. The page looks like it is still a work in progress though.

It looks like Daiwa discontinued the original Tatula 100 and the Tatula 200hd.

They're up for pre-order at The Tackle Trap, shipping starts around the Classic later this week. I had really hoped that they would build all three ratios in left hand, but they're only building it in 7.3 for the LH guys. That 5.4 in RH will be a great mag crank 10XD type reel =D>

*edit - the IPT is now accurate on our website.

The description makes it sound like the 6.3:1 will come in left hand.

There was some early confusion on this one. The Left hand is only offered in 7.3:1 unfortunately.

That's a bummer. I am hoping Daiwa starts putting a Steez TW type sideplate ( like the one found on the new JDM Zillion HD)on all there new reels.http://japantackle.com/media/catalog/pr ... 1520sh.jpg The protruding mag dial on the current Tatula's and Zillion's keep me from owning a bunch of them.

Is this frame going to be the same as the original Tatula, or a redesigned frame more like the CT with a larger/deeper spool?

It has the original frame.

Not Magforce Z. "Regular" Magforce. The spool is too narrow to accommodate any inductor control. I have the 200 HD (same spool as 150 HD - just diff cosmetic). Converted it with 153 spool (mag z). Was not impressed with the performance of the original deep spool. Between lack of "Z", and heavy spool when filled, I found the reel lacked good control when casting for distance. Difficult to consistently achieve good distance, and backlash prone.

I read that the reel has Magforce Z. It holds more line then the original Tatula 100. Is the spool a little deeper or does it have a wider frame?

This is what I would like to do with my Tatula HD200. It is a very smooth reel, but I don't like the spool at all. I have mine on a 7'6" cranking rod, but it is a 7.3. So now the only baits it casts well are big cranks, chatterbaits, etc. and it's a tad fast for those applications. How much did the 153 MagZ spool cost you and where's the best place to order???

The new 150 is a Magforce reel with a fixed inductor. This much we know. It is unknown if the spool is the same diameter as the older tat 100 only deeper and fixed inductor or if it has a larger diameter spool like the tat 200. In the case of the 150 having the same diameter spool as the tat 100 but only deeper and fixed inductor one could potentially swap in a tat 100 spool to have a Magforce Z reel. You would do this for cool looking paint on the reel vs a regular Tatula 100. To make things even more confusing, you can convert the Tatula 200 to a Magforce Z reel as well. You would need a spool from a Tatula 153 to do this because both the tat 153 and 200 have a larger diameter spool than the tat 100.

As mentioned earlier, the deep spool does not allow the Tat 150 to be "Z" capable.

From japantackle.com:
"Daiwa Tatula HD Custom 150 model is heavy duty model of the Tatula 100, featuring following upgrades from original Tatula. Long 100mm ESD (air-craft grade duralumin) handle, high-grip knobs, 36mm large spool (instead of regular 34mm spool), super deep spool, souped up 7.0 kg drag, and metal star drag. Due to the deep spool, magbrake has fixed brake rotor, instead of moving MagforceZ."

Tatula 100 (USDM), 150 (USDM) - spool diameter 34 mm, Magforce Z
Tatula 150 (JDM,) 153 (JDM), 200 (USDM) - spool diameter 36 mm

Tatula 150 (JDM), 200 (USDM) is deep spool. Fixed inductor - not Magforce Z.
Tatula 153 (JDM) Magforce Z.

Ordered 153 spool for my 200 HD from Hedgehog Studio, Japan.
