New Tatula 150

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

I read that the reel has Magforce Z. It holds more line then the original Tatula 100. Is the spool a little deeper or does it have a wider frame?

The new 150 is a Magforce reel with a fixed inductor. This much we know. It is unknown if the spool is the same diameter as the older tat 100 only deeper and fixed inductor or if it has a larger diameter spool like the tat 200. In the case of the 150 having the same diameter spool as the tat 100 but only deeper and fixed inductor one could potentially swap in a tat 100 spool to have a Magforce Z reel. You would do this for cool looking paint on the reel vs a regular Tatula 100. To make things even more confusing, you can convert the Tatula 200 to a Magforce Z reel as well. You would need a spool from a Tatula 153 to do this because both the tat 153 and 200 have a larger diameter spool than the tat 100.
Tacklewarehouse says it has Magforce Z. In the picks you can see it does not have a super deep spool.

You're right. The pic on Daiwa's site made it look deeper then it was. It's definitely a Magforce Z reel. It most likely has a larger diameter spool to increase the line capacty. I wonder if this reel is the USDM variant of the Tatula 153.

After much searching, the US model might be different from the Japan release. Found a few references that call out that it is Magforce Z. And pics look like it's not a deep spool.

Just would be nice if Daiwa's own web site called out that it's "Z".

I wonder if the frame is going to be a little wider.

Tatula 150 US is not the same as US 100 or Japan 150.
Line capacity of 16lb/125 yd looks same for both 150 spools. But one is a 34 mm diam (US), and other is 36mm (Japan).

So, Mag Z it is...

Karl
Then why is the reel called a 150 and not a 100? Tacklewarehouse has it listed as 16lb./125 yd. Something must be different. Either the spool is a little deeper or the reel is a little wider.

Daiwa calls it out as 16/100 here:

http://www.daiwa.com/us/contents/reels/ ... index.html

But, yes that would make sense to have the new reel, 150 "size", be a bit larger spool.

Looks like info on the US 150 is incorrect. Follow through post for correct info.

Curious if these new Tatula 150 reels share the same gear sets with previous Tatulas. I would like a 6.3 in lefty.

Custom gear options are now available pre-installed at The Tackle Trap. Models and ratios are listed on the website!

Here's a photo of the "original" Tatula, the new Tatula 150, and the Tatula CT... we have all the new 150's in stock and shipping.

Possible to measure spool diameter on the new Tatula 150? Curious to know if it is 34 or 36mm.

Thanks,
Karl

So just to make sure again... It doesn't fit in the Tatula HD right? I really don't want to sell mine because they've been on sale so long, but just really wish I had a Curado K or Tatula CT-R in a 6 speed rather than the 7.3HD for cranking. There is a 153 spool, but its like 80 bones.
