Bantam MGL Who has their hands on one?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

For 70$ more they've asked for the Bantam vs Chronorach they could at least put 1 bearing more, not take one from one place and put in another place...

Can the Chronarch be tuned with a bearing on the spool like the Bantam?

The way the frame is constructed on the new Chronarch, it looks like their would be a bearing on the spool shaft, but their isn't. I'm not sure if you can tune it or not, my guess would be no.

It's a no for sure after checking the Chronarch MGL schematic. I am sure with major work anything can be done, but the previous post comparing it to Daiwa's free floating design is a good way to explain it. On the Chronarch, there is a bearing on the brake side of the spool and then I think it rides on the tension knob bearing, while the 2 middle bearings support the pinion. On the Bantam MGL, the two spool bearings support the spool and the outside two (handle side obviously) support the pinion. I am not sure about that 100% on the Bantam, but the location sure makes it seem that way.

According to the schematic, the spool and pinion bearing layout is identical to other Shimano “silent tune” reels, the Aldebaran and Met MGL.

Check this review on the video...
I dont think that the Bantam is better that the Chronarch...there are some minuses I think for the Bantam.

For those who don't want to watch a 28 min video.
To cut to the chase

plastic drag star
cast control doesn't click
line guide close to the spool

Desktop analysis. No on the water experience.

To many minuses for a 350$ reel in 2018...not to mention that the spool doesnt click when the fish is pulling...for me is unacceptable for a 2018 reel. Many Daiwa has all the stuff that clicks. This is the beauty of fishing...

Test on the water?!? Come on...it will cast just like a Met MGL or Chronarch MGL...

Not much of an analysis, desktop or otherwise. I'll wait for a more thorough review.

I have yet to see him tear one down and go thru it...must not be mechanically inclined.
