what technique?

Supposedly there is a shallow spool coming for the Bantam also. If that is the case you could buy a Bantam and the extra spool for the price of the Aldebaran MGL, I think they both will be great, but the Aldebaran 30 size is getting pretty shallow spooled.faheem96 wrote:Hi guys i need some inputs, which one should i get? Not sure, but I think one of the new Ryoga reels can fit most of the 1016 (including SV) spools... I think. Either way, depends on the ratio you are after. I would buy a Ryoga for my cranking setup if I had a ton of extra $$$ but I would have to have a faster ratio. more versatile reel that can do more (at least 7 speed).

If the new ryoga can fit an sv spool that would be great. I could cast lighter lures.

Isn't the ryoga bit too heavy for a general purpose reel? Especially when compared to the Conquest. I am not sure why would somebody spend more money and add more weight and get at best the same quality. What am I missing?

Yup i almost own that reel. But didnt pull the trigger. The new ryoga looks sexy though. Now leaning towards either the ryoga or bantam.spencerinstl wrote:https://www.ebay.com/itm/DAIWA-1016SV-S ... Interesting. Mind to elaborate on this? I get that the black reel looks sweet, but not sure again if it justifies the increased weight and price. I am not sure how much smoother can be than what the Conquest is...VinnyOA wrote:You gotta see and fish the ryoga to understand. Some people prefer the look and feel of the ryoga over the calcutta conquest, some don't.freelancer27 wrote:Isn't the ryoga bit too heavy for a general purpose reel? 2 different braking systems. If you like Centrifugal, get the Calcutta. If you like the Magnetic, get the Ryoga. Either way, you cant go wrong. I just picked up a NIB Calcutta 200GTB for $200.00freelancer27 wrote:Isn't the ryoga bit too heavy for a general purpose reel? Especially when compared to the Conquest.
