Storing and transporting extra casting reel spools

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Storing and transporting extra casting reel spools

I bank fish - mostly - and often bring extra spools. How / in which container do you transport extra spools for your casting reels?

I put each in a sandwich plastic bag and store them with my plastics. But I have a sling pack from Yukon outfitters thats only 20 bucks that has padded compartments. I always use the Ziploc so no dirt gets on the spool from my back pack

Thanks all, I will try and find some pill bottles on ebay or aliexpress. If none are compatible I will go to hedgehog.

DSLR neoprene lense pouch and clip it to the outside of my bag. You can buy the larger / longer pouch and use a rag to seperate the spools if you have multiple spools.

Thanks. Any specific pouch you can recommend? I am guessing size small...
Cheers

They usually come in set sizes - the smallest pouch takes a 2500 Shimano spool comfortably - the next pouch up would take two stacked with a cloth layer easily etc.

Good thing about the neoprene pouch is theyre absorbing to being hit - and easily accessed while on the bag.

Thought about other spool storage like purpose designed spool cases but in the end theyre expensive and clumsy with zippers to fail and hard to store internally with limited space especially on a Daiwa Trout bag...

Bass Pro used to make and sell small hard-side cases for spinning reel spools. You could also use them for baitcasting reel spools.

I don't know if they still sell them. There were two sizes.

I have a few that I don't use....can send a pix to your e-mail if interested. I will sell them to you if you're interested.

Thank you for the offer. I may get back to you later.
For now, I have purchased “pill bottles” and dlsr neoprene pouches, which I hope will do the trick...
