Bantam mgl usa vs. Japan
I'm just wondering if there's slated to be any differences in the U.S. version of the bantam mgl and the jdm version? I bought a new metanium from digitaka and the only difference was line capacity. I'm also wondering if they will be released on the same dates or earlier in Japan? I realize there might not be answers to these questions yet, but figured I'd ask in case someone in the tt universe knows.
Re: Bantam mgl usa vs. Japan
Their looks to be no difference between the two. Line capacity is the same on the Japanese websites and the American websites. I think Japan will get them first, starting in March and the US looks to be getting them in April. Now this is just what I've read, that could change depending on Shimano. I'm pretty eager to get this reel, so I've been looking into it myself.

Thanks Chreim20, I think this reel has more potential than anything that's come out in a long time.

I think somebody posted something about the bearing count might be different but I have not looked myself.

It was me, think it was a mistake they will have to correct on the US Shimano website though. Bantam mentioned that the Bantam MGL is going to have an 8+1 system just as the Chronarch MGL does. Really hope it ends up that way. Also hoping the line capacity is the same as the Chronarch MGL, some sites have the new Bantam listed at 16/100 though.Kurt L wrote:I think somebody posted something about the bearing count might be different but I have not looked myself.

I was a little bit confused, too - but a line capacity of 16lb/100m (Japanese Standard) is equal to a 151 spool size.DirtyD64 wrote:Kurt L wrote:Really hope it ends up that way. Also hoping the line capacity is the same as the Chronarch MGL, some sites have the new Bantam listed at 16/100 though.
And really exciting for me is, that they will offer a additionally 71er spool: http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/reel/5341

My prediction..it's gonna fish just like every other mid to high end reel. It's going to be rock solid just like the Curado and metanium and every other alu framed reel.
But it's gonna be so much cooler because it's got lots of metal and brass where little chincy plastic bits and alooominium usually are now adays.

This is a reel worth getting hyped over. Not like that orange thing with gappy plastic support bits.

I don't understand. They are offering a shallow spool?-Boris- wrote:I was a little bit confused, too - but a line capacity of 16lb/100m (Japanese Standard) is equal to a 151 spool size.DirtyD64 wrote:Kurt L wrote:Really hope it ends up that way. Got it, just cashed in a big ole bucket of change... Really hoping this reel has the full 9 bearing system, not a huge deal but I just hope it does. Curado 70's seem fine though and they don't have dual main shaft support...
Re: Bantam mgl usa vs. Japan
I don't know, if there is a difference in the bearing count between the US- and JP-model (and I will take the JP-model, because within shipping it will be much more cheaper for me...).

Oh man can't wait to punch and flip with the bantam
Re: Bantam mgl usa vs. Japan
I'm reading for summer small mouth fishing with the supposed shallow spool. Don't really need another reel, but I've already got a rod picked for this one.paulito wrote:Oh man can't wait to punch and flip with the bantam
