Rehabing an inner tube? (Concerning a roller clutch)

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Rehabing an inner tube? (Concerning a roller clutch)

Post by lifeofRiley » Wed Jan 24, 2018 4:56 pm

A buddy of mine bought a curado 100d off flea bay and the guy claimed 100% sound mechanically. My buddy got the reel and it's doing the old trick where the handle slips backwards from time to time. I called shimano today and the roller clutch is in Stock but the inner tube has been discontinued. The guy from shimano told me I could try a new roller clutch, and brushing the surface of the inner tube with steel wool. Has anyone tried this before, or does anyone have any other tricks they've used to improve the performance of an older inner tube?
P.S. yes I will check southwest parts and ebay for the part later on.

Cross hatch the surface wth wet and dry whilst wet. Works wonders!

Thanks Slaz,

why would it matter if it's wet or dry?

I do it wet but some like it dry \:D/

Wet is best with metals and abrasives.
