Curado K gears

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Brass, and guaranteed to get rid of the ‘Metanium buzz’ if you have one of these reels. TTT sells the gear set for this purpose.

I wonder if these will fit the Metanium 13 also... [-o<

I'm just waiting for TTT to get left hand gears

They do fit the 13 Met. I’ve got a set of each left hand in stock. Call me tomorrow.

I just got my order from Shimano to do a Curado K gear swap to my Metanium 13

I checked my Metanium 13 spool and my MGL spool.

What I found out is the pinion gear from the Curado K will not work, the spool does not fit with this pinion gear.

I ended up using the pinion gear that was in the reel.

If you do order a gear swap, order a new pinion gear for the MGL/13 and order a Curado K Drive gear in the
same gear ratio.

But my 13 is super smooth now, I will leave my MGL as is since its super smooth right now, but will add a new gear set if
it loses its smoothness over time....

Yes my apologies. I was referencing the set we sell, as it comes with the Metanium pinion. I do apologize for the confusion.

Best upgrade going for the 13 Met. Transformed mine to the point where its smoothness matches the Conquest 100HG. Why do reel companies persist with alloy gears? The weight saving is peanuts in my book.

Agreed, mine has a HH swept carbon handle, HH air beaings and yumeya shallow spool, this was the last thing it really needed to become amazing.

Because "they" think we know what we want better than "we" do.

And also because the alloy gears dont last as long, and maybe they think that will make us buy new ones? Think cars.

Are there any left hand gearsets available yet? I looked at shimano's website, but there was no option to get any parts for the curado k.

I called Shimano and ordered #5727 drive gear, #5649 drag washer, #5651 drag washer.
I would also order a new pinion gear, the pinion gear needs to be a Metanium MGL/13 pinion to work with the spool.
These parts will fit the 6.2:1 or they will change your gear ratio to 6.2:1 Metanium MGL and Metanium 13
