The clear/white plastic twist-in-half containers that some spools ship in are OK, but I would love something that is a bit tougher and closes more securely. I though about looking for a pill bottle, but it's hard to find good sizing info online and the one pharmacy I tried to ask at was not at all interested in dealing with me.
Here is a solution for spool storage. Put those plastic twist in half containers, preferably the ones with foam at both ends inside a plano bait jar organizer stowaway. Holds the twist in half containers securely.

So all the references to the 1016, is referring to the T3 RCS 1016 spool, correct?

This one...?

more often than not, yes, that is what is being referenced.

In this thread, I believe that the 1016 spools mentioned have primarily been the T3, Zillion, and Steez spools and the SLP RCS 1016 G1.

The spool that is meant is from the T3. There is an RCS 1016 spool that is stock in the Ryoga 1016. The Ryoga spool is silver whereas the T3 spool is darker.

How different are the SLP G1 1016 SV spools from the stock Zillion SV TW G1 spools??? I know the differences in the 1012 G1 SV, just didn't know if the SLP G1 1016 was different from the Zillion SV TW and how much different either is from the Steez SV TW spool.

I believe that
Slp 1016 g1 = steez 1016 sv tw
Slp 1012 g1 = steez 1012 sv tw (x high speed model)
- I previously thought that the slp version weighed less because of info from hedgehog.co.jp.
However, it appears that the differences in spool weight as detailed on hedgehog.co.jp are due to either misinformation/typos with a falsely low weight stated for the slp spools or because the slp spools was weighed w bearing and the steez was not.
See:
https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/produ ... ct_id=3762
https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/produ ... ct_id=3648
My slp 1012 and steez 1012 weigh the same at around 11.5 gram. I guess it is the same with the 1016.

As for differences v the Zillion SV TW — the Zillion is supposed to be a bit heavier at around 12 gram...if this information is reliable:

I think you are correct, seems that the Steez spools, 1012 and 1016 are both ported just a little more in the middle. I think all of those weights are WITH bearing too, truly amazing spools to come on a stock reel. Really wish they would bring the 1012 to America, I am not sure what's with always wanting deeper spools here and saving the good stuff for Japan. Would be great if they had a purple trimmed Zillion SV TW in an 8 speed with a 1012 G1.

Great thread! Learned a bunch for the sv103hl I'm building to replace my OG crazy cranker.

I'm on a budget so I'll start with the HLC spring first. Then I'll try reducing the inductor(like Rippin-lips tried) height or replacing it.

Also like all the tips on spool storage!! :D

Found a reasonable alternative to the spool cases............ Just sharing. ;)

They also have square tubes with round bores.

Has anyone tried the Steez HLC Spool for bombing DEEP crankbaits in the 3/4oz-1 1/4oz range?

I tried the T3 1016 spool and while I saw a minor improvement, I'm not getting the desired results as I feel it's still over-braked.

Unless there's another model I'm not aware of, a BFS spool will NOT work for bombing 1oz crankbaits.

I can nearly spool it with a DT 16 and 10LB mono/flouro. I'm gonna try a RCS1016 which should hold more line.

SLP works shows a hlc spool for the steez, But can't seem to find one!

That is the exact spool I was asking about.
