School me on round reels

Hey guys, wanting to get a round reel for targeting some of these big toothy critters we have up here, but outside of the low profile bass reel market, I’m lost. Pretty much the only round reel that I’m even aware of the existence of is the Shimano Calcutta. I’m not terribly brand loyal. I’d have no issues buying JDM either but have no idea what’s available.

Thank you for your help

Shimano Calcutta Conquests if you want the best. Used Daiwa lunas and CVZ's are available on ebay. Also Abu Garcia still makes quality round reels. I would buy a used shimano conquest 200 series. Daiwa makes some jigging reels that might fill the bill if the bling factor is a requirement.

Depending on how much coin you want to drop there is always a mono block and lin. The megabass black jungle is a beast.

Calcutta Conquest would be my choice.

If you wanted low profile I would go with a Shimano TranX or a Curado 300/301E if you can find one.

I have a curado 301E I use for Muskie and its been perfect....

As long as you're not the one selling me the reel, "money is no object "

What are your line capacity requirements? If you run braid exclusively, you may have some options available that otherwise you wouldn't if you're running a thick 30# mono or something along those lines...

For really "big guys" I'd recommend to take a look on Abu Rocket family...Great line capability, strong brakes, synchronized level winder give you cast longer, plus, when fish pull the line,it's go back without any sharp corners (like on Calcutta)

Daiwa Ryoga 2020 or Daiwa Pluton 200HS. I have both. Excellent reel!
Casting 1-10oz lures with these.
