I am in the market for a stealthy looking reel to match my Daiwa Cronos 7'6" M/ML spinning rod and the Tatula LT seems to be where I am at. However, I am up-in-the-air between the models. The 2500 seems to have a deep spool and holds the same capacity as the 4000. The 2500 weighs 6.2oz. and the 4000 is 7.4oz (still super light for a reel this size). The IPT of the 4000 is something like 39" which is awesome but I figured I would ask you guys to give comparisons for either. Will the 2500 size/weight make the the rod seem a little tip heavy? It seems like many guys are going with the larger arbor spools on their spinning reels and I do see the benefit as I do use larger arbor reels. For instance, on my other Cronos 7'6" rod, I have a Luvias 3012H. Not sure where the 3000 size Tatula LT reels fall into place here (both deep and standard spool) but it seems like the new 4000 size is closer to Daiwa's older 3000 size reels. Right now, TW is the only place I see with 4000 size reels in stock. Any help and/or input would be appreciated. Thanks and best wishes on the water!

If you hold your hand completely above the reels stem the 2500 is alright. I tried a 3000 on it for you and it is a tad tip heavy, if you split your fingers at all on the reel stem. The 4000 is perfect on that rod. Seth is all about the 4000 for that rod. That being said I am trying the 2500's this year. I like the extreme weight savings, and hold my hand high on the reel seat.

BTW, does the 3000 come with the paddle or T shaped handle?

Awesome! I am starting to like the T shaped knobs again...many years ago I had an old Daiwa with a wooden one (90s). What is the line capacity on the 3000 shallow? Thanks! Do you know Seth is that why you mentioned the 4000 before?

10 lbs mono 130 yards.
10 lbs Braid 205 yards. (approximately)

Yeah I know Seth, he designed that rod and worked with R&D on the Tatula spinning reels.

I have only fished with the 4000's. They are surprisingly smooth for a high gearing carbon framed reel. The frame feels way stiffer than previous Zaion frames. They are going to surprise a lot of people at that price point. I admit I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to spinning reels especially. I usually only buy Japanese manufactured reels. I have a 2500 Tatula LT waiting for me to get my ass in a boat.

Have any of you fished the reel yet?

I'm trying to decide between the Tatula LT, and Ballistic LT both in the 2500 size. I'm curious how smooth the drag is on the reel as I will mainly be using lighter line on this reel. I know the obvious difference between the two reels is that the ballistic is magsealed, but other than that and color, do the body and construction feel about the same? I'm leaning a little more on the tatula lt since I don't fish salt water much, and if I do, won't be using this reel.

I fished my Tat 3000 shallow spool a little bit last weekend down on Lake Norman. I have it mounted on a Tat Elite 7-1 AGS rod and was catching Spotted Bass on shakey head rig. I really didn't get ahold of any spots that tested the rig that hard but I like the light weight and balance of the two together.

The drag is very smooth much like the Luvias and Steez I have as well. I can't wait to take it up to Erie this May and tangle with some big brown fish....

I have a Fuego LT 3000. Same diameter spool as my Theory 2506. Wished I had picked up the 4000 instead.

Daiwa Australia has the spool diameters for the old and new LT sizing.

That's disappointing that Daiwa have gone for smaller diameter spools, probably more in line with Shimano sizes. I suppose the only way to compete on weight with the c14 stradic is to make the reels smaller. A 4000 size Daiwa looks like the only sensible choice now for a lot of applications.
