SV105 spools?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

SV105 spools?

Post by Tim Kelly » Mon Oct 23, 2017 2:24 am

I just ordered an SV105 spool off ebay for my Alphas SV105. The picture of the spool said Alphas on it, but the description said Steez. Are they both the same spool?

To my knowledge the Steez is a 103. They are not interchangeable.

Probably depends on which one it mentioned more, or will have to wait till it shows up. The Alphas, SV105, or Megabass 105 variants are all the same, but as stated previously, the 103 size spools don't fit.

SLP SV105 variants for the Steez are purple, red, and orange. SV Steez 6.3 has the orange 105 spool. The Steez Limited XH/XHL came in a 105 spool size. 103 came in the TN special, as well as SLP releasing the 3 color variants as well.

The Tackle Trap has the actual SV105 spools in stock and ready to ship. They are great in the whole Alphas/Sol family of reels. There's no telling what will show up from eBay, good luck

From ebay if the price was below 100 bucks, you're getting the Alphas SV spool. Over 100 bucks you should receive the Steez SV105 spool. Different size spools, not interchangeable.

Hmmm. Looks like I should have done more research. I bet it's a steez spool despite saying alphas on the spool in the picture.

For $96.20 usd shipped I’m betting you will receive an Alphas 105 spool. Steez 105 spools are generally more expensive by about $20-30.

Naming the Alphas SV the SV105 for the American market was idiotic.

Thanks. Picture and price say Alphas, description says Steez, so I'll have to wait and see what turns up.

Worst case, sell the Steez spool and buy the right one, if you really got the Steez for under $100 you should be able to make your money back plus most/all of the shipping.
