Daiwa Paint Issues
Hi all, I was wondering if anybody has had issues with Daiwa's paint coating. I have a Steez A and I fished it probably 10 times and for some reason the coating on it is bubbling. Any input? Thanks.
Re: Daiwa Paint Issues
Have seen it in 2 other daiwa reels (one an OG zillion and one an alphas) that were fished in saltwater.
Corrosion under the paint is usually the suspect.
Haven't seen it with my Steez A yet, though have only fished in fresh with it.

Re: Daiwa Paint Issues
A Tackle Trap customer bought one from the shop, it developed a bubble in the paint within a month or so, it was replaced and the issue raised with Daiwa. It's nice to have good warranty support when things happen. I don't know if it's very common however, I have a couple Steez A models that I've fished a lot and they look as good as new...

I did fish this reel in salt. Isn't the Steez A supposed to be salt friendly?
Re: Daiwa Paint Issues
I assumed it was an anodised finish/bead blasted.
Hope you can have it sorted.

Re: Daiwa Paint Issues
Have heard that their paint is stupidly thin which chips and peels and on the other hand is very porus which ultimately lets through acids from your hands skin amd that creates those corrosion bubbles.
Doesnt happen on every reel or with everyone either.
Luck of the game.

Re: Daiwa Paint Issues
So I mailed in my reel, got the reel back pristine. Fished it like twice in saltwater and the paint started chipping off again... I thought this reel is saltwater approved?
Re: Daiwa Paint Issues
Well it's marketed in the Australian and Japaneseas salt-safe.
Can you show a pic? Where is the bubbling occuring?
