I have a SV105 and love it. Cast 1/8" swim baits all day. Also have a basic tatula ct with a rays spool, and it cast slightly farther than the sv105 some days. Also, the stock curado 70 has worked well with small baits.

All the reels you listed are very nice, but don't think those are the only reels that will get the job done. With the right rod, and some practice, you can throw pretty light baits with most reels.
I am just not a fan of the coating of the silver Shimano reels. They scratch too easily for me.
If you're switching because of the finish on your MGL then I understand. Otherwise, I'd actually consider the reel you already have. I have all the reels you listed except for the conquest. The Aldebaran is my favorite for ultralight applications, and it's a great real all together. However, unless you're throwing things like a 3" weightless senko on a regular basis, the MGL is more than sufficient. Even then it's serviceable.

Guess what I'm trying to say is for strictly BFS get the Aldebaran. Think twice about selling the MGL though. You'll probably regret it later. Best reel I've used for almost any regular application.
Thanks for this response! Yeah, I am little bit on the fence if I should sell the Metanium to finance a BFS set up.

Maybe a BFS spool for the SV103 or event the Metanium is a better choice...
After buying a spool and bearings, it may be worth just buying a good priced BFS reel. That way, you still have the Metanium

Calcutta Conquest bfs is a top notch reel

Very happy With the reel
I sold my Daiwa T3 because of using PE lines

So, you have the reel? What lures are you throwing on it? What line have you on the reel? What rod have you paired it up with?

I feel for bfs the alphas is a much better choice than the sv103. The size and weight diffrence alone makes that an easy choice. Tons of spool options as well.

Thank you very much for your reply.

How do you like the reel? What are the pros and cons? Do you have other BFS reels?
Thanks again!

Thanks for the quick reply!

Great to hear that you enjoy the reel!

I am trying to make a decision between the COnquest BFS, the Aldebaran BFS and the Alpha Air.

Maybe you could share some thoughts that would help me in my decision making process?

Thanks again!

The Alphas Air is very Good for the money
NOT very expensive
If you want to spent more I would say the Conquest
I bought the reels at Digitaka
Very Good company
And I dont payed a lot of tax

So, in your opinion the Conquest is the better buy than the Aldebaran? Do they differ in terms of casting distance, casting effort or is the 'only' difference the look and feel of the reel?

Thanks for taking the time!

All the reels Cast Well
The look and the built of a tank made for me the choice that the Conquest is nicer than the Aldebaran

So which did you end up with?
I ask this as I am also pondering the same for throwing 1/4 ounce spinners for trout. Leaning heavily towards the conquest......

I went with the Alde. I agree that the Conquest is 'cooler' and sturdier. But I wanted to lightest combo possible. Also I felt that sturdiness in a BFS reel was not as important as if I used the reel lets say for Chatterbaits, etc.

Well is was a cant lose situation and you can always try the conquest at a later date!
It would be overkill for my situation but I figure I deserve it at this point in life.
