original Fuego 3000 spinning
original Fuego 3000 spinning
just wondering how this spinning reel stacks up against the spinning reels of today. Bought one when they first came out. Put it on an old green blank legend elite 7' ml. Bought a TDZ and a red Pixy and that was it for spinning reels.Think I used it only once. With some of the new techniques figured I would give spinning a try again. Any comments? thanks

Nah new ones are waaaayyyyyy better, I will give you $75 for your old Fuego just to ease your pain.

the old ones were way better , absolute tanks. i had one for inshore , regretted selling it to this day. the team daiwa advantage was another one , like the SOL , it couldn't be torn up.

At the risk of losing the opportunity to nab your Fuego, I agree with JohnD. Even going back further to TDZ Emblem Z and Emblem X. I still have some of them going strong.....And I use the crap out of them.

I have exactly that reel in the regular rotation. It's getting a bit grumbly and rumbly now, but it's been a great reel. I might try getting some new gears for it to see if I can renew it as it's one of my favorite spinners.
Re: original Fuego 3000 spinning
I have an original red 3000 fuego and honestly it works perfectly fine still with no hicupps... I really wish I could find a 2500 that's in a really good condition still for a decent price. Out of all my reels it's the best I have and toughest. I rank it right up there with my Sustain,Stella,Stee in terms of quality and reliability.

I had a Cabela's 50th Anniversary Fuego (green) and it was a great reel, sold it and have regretted it ever since. Only advantage for newer reels would be higher gear ratios.
