13 Fishing Concept Z

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

It will probably be "right hand only" so I'm not holding my breath.

So true. I mean...you have to take pro reactions with a grain of salt. We still haven't caught wind of a price point either or what they exactly mean by "no BALL bearings." But it's just intriguing nonetheless. And on top of that, it probably won't come in LH retrieve anyhow lol

Brandon Coulter said it casts 20 percent further.

I too think it is more than bushings for their zero ball bearing. Probably magnets with N N or S S orentation in a bearing-like housing to freely spin. We will hopefully find out I CAST 2017. I think it will be a Classic release
I can't wait for your report.

It is reported that it can handle lures down to an 1/8th of an ounce and cost should be around $200.00. Left handed models are supposed to be released too. as for the noise could it be braid running through the line guide we hear vs actual bearing noise?

Hello Tackle Tourians,

Thank you for your interest in our new technology Concept Z. I think we will be able to turn any skeptics into believers in 3 casts. Please stay tuned to our social media channels as we ramp up the information in the next few days. Enjoy the series of videos as we travel to visit some of our prostaff around the country and see what they think of the reels.

We will be demoing the Concept Z with Dave Lefebre at "ICAST on the water"....come by and experience it for yourself.

Finn922.....the noise you hear in the video is the line whipping thru the rod guides....you will see on the next few videos the change when we change lines to our prostaffers choice line brand and size.

Papabassin.....its $200 and his reaction was filmed as it happened. Brandon had no idea this reel didn't have a ball bearing for the first 45minutes of our filming. This isn't a product we need to stage reactions for....the product does all the work, these are some of the best anglers in the world....they have very high expectations in their equipment.

TommyG.....Left handed reels will be available from launch.

I never even considered buying a 13 fishing reel. UNTIL.... now.
I gotta buy one. This is innovation.

looking forward to it. Where are you getting 20%? Is that compared to your other reels or competitors?

I am really interested in this. Either this will be a gimmick or something that will change how reels are designed throughout the industry. If it's the latter and only 200 bucks...hell I'll take one, or two. The bushing idea doesn't seem like it would work though, I can't imagine IMPROVED performance out of all bushings, and like others said, how does AR work? I'm definitely going to keep my eyes on this though.
