Shimano 2017 Icast rumor mill ...

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Guess I'm confused why they would come out with a new Chronarch G when they just came out with the MGL. Different price points?

This is for those that want to use a Chronarch for fresh and salt water. The Chronarch MGL is designed for freshwater due to the lightweight Magnumlite spool. The G uses different spool design that is safe for salt.

Good find man... maybe it's an inshore model with a treated spool that's corrosion resistant and aluminum frame? Perhaps 299

But I've been hearing about a inshore designated reel to be released at Icast that could be in the form of a Curado or possibly a Chronarch.
Finally !!!! Some info on a salt friendly release ! :big grin:

I saw a post today about the Ch G and asked Shimano on facebook about the size, 150. Well good for me, I don't want any more reels that size. I saltwater fish and the 70 is perfect for fishing with braid.

So what rumors are y'all hearing about a new Curado? I'd be sorta surprised as the 70/71 aren't all that old. And speaking of those, anyone seen a Shimano JDM 16 Scorpion 70/71? Any difference (other than looks) to the Curado 70/71?

Thanks

I think this is probably the "regular" Chronarch with the continued letter moniker. The MGL is sort of like what the Metanium XT used to be for the Chronarch SF...minus the JDM factor. Hopefully, this "G" variation is more like the "D" Chronarch and less like the "G" Curado.
