Steez SV103H

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Steez SV103H

Post by Big-Bass » Fri Apr 21, 2017 10:43 am

So I just ordered a Steez SV103H for the following reasons:

1. All around ratio
2. JDM also includes this ratio (US model is also in 8.1)
3. Lighter than 8.1
4. Many reviews that said the 6 is smoother with a more connected feel than the 8.

Did I do alright? I used Cabela's bucks with free shipping and a Visa gift card to even the balance.

Any reason for the 8 or was the 6 a good choice? I may pair it with a Dobyns Champion 702C.

Looking to use for lighter worms, small jigs, jerks, small cranks, small spinnerbaits, and senkos.

Did I make the right choice? Thanks for any/all suggestions.

I thought "more connected feeling" means you could feel the main gear with pinion gear.

It's kind of geary feeling which is not considered as smooth.

For example, old version conquest has more connected feel than the new micro gear conquest.

My new conquest 101HG/201 feel almost "nothing" when you are spinning the handle.

Just 2 cents.

Ok should have meant smoother feeling...

Would the 6 or 8 have more of a smoother feeling to match my Calais 100A?

My explanation
Brass = Smooth. Like you're reeling air.
Duraluminum = Connected. You can feel the gears working.
Brass is softer so this makes sense in my pea brain. This is how I would best describe the difference between my 8 Steez SV and 7 Steez SV TW. I prefer the connected feel for light presentations on a light powered rod, and the smooth feel on heavier applications which is exactly what I bought these reels for.
