Shimano Vanquish 16 C2500HGS
First post here.. Let's get straight to the business. So i've been planning to get that reel, but been wondering a bit about the size of the C2500HGS, how is it compared to sizes C2000 and 2500s? Also would love to hear opinions about Vanquish 16, if there is guys who have been using them?
My other option is Daiwa luvias 2000, maybe even Stella C2000s.. But right now the Vanquish feels strongest candidate for me. I will be getting the reel for light bottom contact stuff mainly, drop shots, rigs, light jigs, target species being european perch and zander (pretty much the same fish as walleye in states). I will use thin braided lines only.

I currently have a stella 2500 on my nrx822 drop shot rod, it is a fantastic reel (and overall combo), but I am thinking that it might be better on a more versatile spinning rod. For a drop shot rod, I was thinking that a lighter reel like the vanquish might be better. I have read that the vanquish is very similar to the stella, with only a few minor differences. One being the spool, which is lighter on the vanquish.
I like the C2000HGS, it is light (155g) has the body size of the 1000 but with a bit more line capacity.

I was in Japan last March and went to a few local tackle shops . I picked up the vanquish and let me tell you it's one bad a$$ mofo. You think a Stella FI is smooth ? The vanquish 16 is so smooth it's almost not right . Air and floating butter is what I would compare it too. I am a Daiwa guy but to be honest this reel is amazing . You will not regret the purchase at all . I like the 2000 and 2500 size

The HGS means High gear with a shallow spool.
The c2000 is a 1000 frame with a larger spool I believe
I have a C2500hg Vanquish 13, I also have a yumeya shallow spool and its been amazing.

Re: Shimano Vanquish 16 C2500HGS
Thanks for comments. Looks like im going with the Vanquish, sounds like it is the real deal. Just have to decide between the sizes c2500HGS or 2500s. The 2500 seems to have a bit wider spool, but are the line capacities the same? Weight difference seems to be minimal with those sizes. Also, do you guys think Vanquish is worth extra 100$ over Daiwa luvias?

Magnesium over plastic = yes, imho.BlueBlueSky wrote:Thanks for comments. Looks like im going with the Vanquish, sounds like it is the real deal. I would go with the c2500XGS for the fact it comes with a 50mm handle to me it helps add more power and the extra line retrieve helps in more situations IMO. I have it and I liked it over the C2500HGS Iuse it for trout bass and panfish.

I love my 16 Vanquish 2500HGS. One word of caution on the C2500 shimanos is that there are no spool options. With a 2500, you can run shallow 2500 spools and any 3000 sized spool. I have a 2500S and 3000M spool for my 2500HG reel. You can only use C2500 spools on C2500 reels. I learned that lesson with my Stella C2500.

Re: Shimano Vanquish 16 C2500HGS
Eventually i ended up getting the 16 Vanquish C2000hgs, because i got a good deal of a slightly used one, and it fits my 6,8ft medium light, very lightweight drop shot rod perfectly. Now i have couple of times out on the water with it.. And i have to say that im totally amazed.. It is extremely impressive reel. Very lightweight, but still feels rigid, solid build, thanks to magnesium frame.
It is so smooth.. i don't know how would i describe it.. I have maybe a huge grin on my face everytime im using it. If you love finesse type of fishing with light lures and light lines, like i personally do, this reel is a perfect fit.
Im very hesitant to say that a high end, high dollar spinning reel is worth the money, but in this case i think it totally is. It's just so amazing. I have been using a lot of ~200 dollar price range spinning reels, and the difference to those is just staggering in my mind. I definitely have to get one or two more of these.
