TD-Z Spool Tension Issue

Post by Basspastor » Thu Mar 23, 2017 6:45 pm

Sometimes when I'm reeling in a fish with one of my TD-Z's it becomes tough to reel in. After I have landed the fish to be able to cast again I have loosen the spool tension knob almost all the way then make a short cast, which I quickly reel back up. Then I readjust the STN to the proper setting and can resume fishing as normal.

What is going on and how can it be fixed?

The spool tension shouldn't move unless you are accidentally moving it when reeling in. There is no "click" to the knob, so you might not realize you are doing it.

TDZ's do have a clicking cast control knob, I had the same issue with my Z and it turned out to be a simple
replacement of the drag washers.(Carbontex from smooth drag.) Good luck,Eric.
