How long are the new CH MGL handles?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

How long are the new CH MGL handles?

I've seen some that were blacked out. How long are these and are they available for purchase?

The Chronarch MGL, and MGL HG models both sport a Gunmetal 90mm handle. The XG model is black and is 96mm. To my knowledge they are not available yet.

they are available. call shimano to purchase. They can look up the part numbers for you as the schematics are not up on the site yet.

These are the part numbers for the left handed HG handle.

BNT5590 - handle assembly (shank, knobs, 2 bearings per knob)
BNT5589 - black nut (left)
BNT5086 - handle retainer
BNT5558 - black screw

if you just want the handle shank you might have to wait. there is an error with the pricing and the shank is actually more expensive than the complete handle assembly!

The part number you gave, BNT5590 is the 90mm Gunmetal right hand. The correct Part number for RH black 96mm handle is BNT5585, and LH is BNT5604

Thanks! they are sending me the wrong handle! Calling them now.

Edit: I just spoke with them and they confirmed that BNT5590 is indeed the Left handed HG (90mm) handle. Where did you hear it was the RH version?

He said the RH HG handle is BNT5562...

Yeah I mistyped that. I had 6 part numbers in front of me. My apologies. But the part numbers I posted above for the 96mm are correct. I just confirmed.

Thanks for this thread, good to hear these are available to order from Shimano. I love the 90mm handle on my new Chronarch MGL, and I want to get 3 of them - 2 for Curado's, and 1 for a Chronarch CI4.

That's my plan for a few. Gonna stick one on my Metanium V2 and on a blacked out Core!

We just placed an order for these yesterday, both LH and RH models, along with the corresponding nuts. They will be on The Tackle Trap website as soon as we get them in. As always these will be eligible for the TT10 discount.

Sweet! These are great to swap for the stock 85mm handles on the Mets. Curado/Scorpion 71 and 2015 Aldebaran's too. It pushes down a bit on the star drag on my 51E series reel but i know Tackle Trap has a cheap mod for that (for other swept handles too).

It would be great if the 90mm HG handle was black. I really like the black nut and black screw. I just replaced the silver screws on all of my reels with these black ones, it hides them well against the black retainers.

I have put the 96mm handles from Met XGs on my 13 Met and two CI4 Chronarchs. Like them quite a bit but for mr at times that's a bit too long, but the 90 is just right.
