Anyone try the 13 Fishing Creed GT spinning reel?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Anyone try the 13 Fishing Creed GT spinning reel?

Post by 1nutinthewater » Fri Mar 17, 2017 5:28 am

I already own 6 stradics and was dying to try something new so i ordered the 13 Fishing Creed GT. Spooled it up with another new to me line- Sunline Natural something in blue. With my eyes going south I lasted 2 casts and decided that i cannot see it and back to the rig for a stradic spooled with high vis.
Anyone have any experience with the Creed GT?
I love the stradics but have sent several back over the last few years. I think a daiwa ballistic is next on the list.

The Ballistic is a bit of a backward step quality wise compared to the Stradic... But depends on which Stradic your talking about.

I have had many- fi, fj, fk, ci4, ci4+

I fish them hard and they seem to always have an issue after a year or 2. Most recent ci4 that was sent in was replaced with a new one by shimano- after maybe a dozen outings the bail is not always flipping back over.....

Held it at iCast but can't say for durability or power under load.
Looks / Feels great for its price tag and I would try one for my next spinning reel. I just feel like you need to remember that this is under $100, and don't expect $200 in performance.
Not available at retailers in Canada yet. Hopefully by the time the ice is all gone here.

I might give it a test run if they cost 30 bucks.

For a C note, Shimano Nasci and Daiwa BG are the obvious choices imo.

My local tackle shop has 5 of them , I felt all 5 and they feel very heart and grindy. Very disappointed in it but I guess you get what you pay for , it feels like $89 .

I just can't get over the look of the spool. That honeycomb look seems so overdone, and a great way to let more contaminants come in contact with the main shaft and the reels internals. I'd stick to the stradic or a daiwa ballistic.

Called the large dealer that I purchased the reel from and they will take it back and refund my $ no questions asked. Guess I better stick with the tried and true...

After all the great word I hear on their baitcasters I thought I would give the creed a test drive but I should have known better,
Damn hobby is getting expensive if ya wanna use good gear. Never imagined that I would one day have 47 rods and still be looking for something better.....
