TW clearance sale of Daiwa sv105 and sv103 ... ???

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

TW clearance sale of Daiwa sv105 and sv103 ... ???

Does this mean the end of these two classic platforms ? Any official word ?

I hope not ! Loving both of these with SV technology.

My understanding is that the reels were a limited offering from daiwa. Two blasts from the past with sv spools in them. I bet the Alphas SV hangs around in the JDM market.

They both seemed to be pretty popular. The SV103 was a little slow to catch on but then it seemed to be a popular reel. Granted, most of my speculation comes from this site and the market outside of TackleTour is much different.

Unfortunately the info that I have wanted to not believe is apparently true.

Can any Daiwa guys help me to understand
- why US SV105 has one more bearing but cheaper than US SV103?
- I saw around $50 gap between JDM sv103 vs US 103. I know they look different but all have 7+1 bearing. What are the specific components' difference inside between JDM SV 103 and US SV103?

Thanks in advance! :-({|= :-({|= :-({|=

There is no JDM SV103. The sv103 is an old td zillion platform adapted to 103 spool dimensions. The sv105 is an overpriced and bizarely named Alphas sv.

I along with most Daiwa enthusiast love both platforms. But the normal fisherman, ie non-tackletour member, is all about new or different reels. My guess is the Zillion SV TW outsells the SV 103 10 to 1. I mean have you fished with anyone no TT crowd who buys tuning spools  I believe the SV105 has had much better success...My guess is we will soon see a finesse oriented SV T-wing reel. I mean that's Daiwa's newest Tech.

I have had many interesting conversations at work about reel technology. I have explained the SV technology so many times and the reaction is the same every time. In the summer, a lot of my combos are in my truck. I have done demonstrations in the parking lot about the SV technology. Many anglers in my area are afraid of baitcasting equipment. I let them cast lures around with my SV reels and they were blown away. I know quite a few have bought an SV reel afterward, even experienced baitcasting anglers in my area have purchased them.

sorry, you are right, it's not jdm sv103(thank you Daiwa, your naming convention is so confusing),

but Daiwa JDM SS SV 103 JDM Casting Reel
$299.97 msrp: $381.37 | Save: $81.40 | 21%

http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_SS ... -DSSV.html

So the question is
- how is this JDM SS SV 103 comparing with US SV 103 as $50 gap?
- If JDM SS SV 103 is a Steez in Disguise, should I spend another $50 more to get Steez SV?
- Or I should spend that $50 to upgrade JDM SS SV 103 by myself(e.g. bearing)

$250 US SV 103
$300 JDM SS SV 103
$350 US Steez SV
$450 JDM Steez SV TW

Thank you thank you ~~~~

US SV103: Heavier, studier, brass gears, OG Zillion body, 90mm handle
JDM SV103: Super light, Zaion-y feeling (hollow-like), Steez body, 80mm handle, stronger brakes.

Id say, for moving baits, US SV103, everything else, JAM SV103.

You can always add bearings to a reel.

I love it. Pitching is very nice with the T Wing. I do enjoy the T Wing for skipping with stiff FC as well. The wider line guide allows the line to "shoot" off the spool.

I agree it does have a few slight advantages as I did most of my frog and Senko skipping last year with TW reels.

But overall I don't see the big "marketing margin" advantage. To me the SV spools used in the 103 and 105 mentioned here give a greater addvange to the techniques I mentioned than the TW. Even when SV combined with TW I dont see a great advantage compare to a standard line guid and SV.

I'm sure some people love it. For me and my style of fishing I'm just not feeling TW.
