Lightest stock 100 size reel spools

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Lightest stock 100 size reel spools

Post by mark poulson » Thu Dec 29, 2016 12:01 am

Since spool weight has such a direct relationship to a reel's casting ability, and to a reel's overall weight and feel, which 100 size baitcasters come with the lightest stock spool?

core 100 MG MG7 has very light spool, I believe around 10 -11 grams.

Can't remember the numbers, but the new steez model has a spool weight in the single digit range if I remember correctly.
Antares AR had a light spool. I'd think any of the newer mgl spools from shimano have to be pretty light too.
